My name is Tom Bohan and I am a freelance VFX Artist, Editor and Filmmaker with over 17 years professional experience.

My love of filmmaking started young - one of my earliest memories of watching films as a kid is seeing Ray Harryhausen's "Talos" come to life in "Jason and the Argonauts", and being completely captivated (and terrified) by it. Before long, I was using my Mum's camcorder to make stop motion animations of my own, animating action figures and toys.
A few years later I had a similarly formative experience after watching Jurassic Park and seeing how CGI - combined with more traditional animatronics - added an unprecedented level of realism and motion to the dinosaurs. That combination of practical movie magic and digital wizardry has become an obsession as I've got older, and I still try and approach visual effects from a "practical first" standpoint - incorporating model making, prop building, and practical photography tricks into my work.

Whilst the bulk of my professional work has been in VFX and editing, I have a wide range of post production skills, including foley, sound design and - as an avid musician - music composition and recording.
I also have a passion for in-camera effects, and love the process of combining 3D design and printing with traditional model making and set building skills, to create shots and scenes that are rooted in the realism of practical filmmaking.
I am available for work, both on long terms and short term projects.
